The 20 Most beloved Bike Brands Sold in the Us

Well, this is easily a controversial, complex and enduringly evolving topic. There are so many bicycle manufacturers, bicycle types and beloved brand names sold in the Us, that it can be difficult to find a full, overview and to sort it all out.

The top 20 most beloved bike brand listing that I've compiled here is not based on the amount of bikes sold alone or on the potential or perceived potential of the bicycles. Most of the bike manufacturers listed here also sell separate bike types (road, mountain, hybrid, etc.) and the list below is not broken down by bike type or category.

This listing is intended to be a guide as to what bike brands are currently the most beloved in the Usa, at the time of this writing (since bike brands come and go and the sales of assorted bike types rise and fall).

Some of the beloved bike brands listed here can only be purchased at specialty bike shops or independent dealers. Although this marketing technique makes these brands harder to find, in some cases this it improves the perceived potential of the bikes over brands that are distributed to the mass store or that can be easily found at sporting goods market or even online.

I have included the bike types or bike categories that each builder sells under the brand names listed. The bike type descriptions were, in most cases, taken directly from each bike manufacturers website in order to not only let you know what kind of bikes they make but also how the firm perceives the bike types that they make and how they store them to you.

Cross-Country Bikes For Women

Cross-country mountain bikes designed specifically for women are not naturally girlie-colored (pink), smaller versions of men's bikes any more. Most larger bike manufacturers offer at least a basic option (one or two models), and the big manufacturers offer a very wide range of cross-country bikes for women. Examples of the big bike manufacturers that offer the best deals and choices for women are Trek and Specialized. Both associates have fully embraced the women's market. This is good news for all women whether they are beginners or racers, on a tight funds or an unlimited budget!

Women's cross-country bikes are dissimilar from men's bikes in that they have a more covenant frame - that is, the top tube is shorter, which makes the reach from saddle to handlebars shorter and more great to a woman's ordinarily shorter torso. Brake levers are smaller and often adjustable for women's smaller hands. Saddles are female-specific and handlebars are narrower. Other than that, there is no dissimilarity in the middle of women's and men's bikes except for color and graphics. Some high-end "boutique" brands (Yeti, for example) offer frame geometry that is very female-friendly, even if they don't offer a women's model.

Cross-country bikes come whether as hardtail (suspension for only, with a rigid rear end) or full-suspension, with further choices of wheel size (26" or 29"). Women who are strictly recreational riders may prefer a full-suspension cross-country bike for its ease and confident, stable handling. Racers, riders on a funds or riders who prefer climbing over descending may opt for a hardtail.

Cross-Country Bikes For Women

Currently there are no cross-country bikes with 29" wheels (29ers) that are designed for women. This is due in part to frame geometry which has to be large adequate to accommodate the 29" wheels. Some women can ride 15.5" or 17.5" 29ers, but shorter women will find it impossible to fit a 29er.
